Forest Services

The Forest Services Program enforces forest and woodland regulations, issues forest/woodland product permits, and manages public relations.

To provide general forest information, either through one-on-one contact or through presentations at chapters and schools.

Enforcement

In order to enforce forest and woodland regulations, and enforcement program was formed out of necessity. Forest officers patrol the highways or forest roads to ensure valid permits are present.

Permit Requirements

  • All person harvesting any forest or woodland product whether for personal use or resale, within the jurisdiction of the Navajo Nation, MUST posses a valid Navajo Nation forest product use or transportation permit or other proof of ownership in their possession at all times (RCMA-48-01 §2.11)
  • The Navajo Forest and woodlands contain in-held scattered Individual Indian allotments. Harvesting of forest and woodland products from allotment lands will be done under guidelines provided under 25 C.F.R. § 163.26 (d) and 53 B.I.A.M. Supplement 4. B.I.A. (RCMA-48-01 § 2.71)
